Acorn to Oak provides comprehensive assessments of cognitive functioning, emotional health, personality, and aptitude for individuals from preschool age through adulthood. We follow with tailored, one-on-one training to help our clients address and overcome the challenges, so they can reach their potential.

Children:

From preschool to adolescence, children are frequently seen at Acorn to Oak. Common assessments include intelligence testing (often for private education) as well as evaluation of ADD/ADHD, learning differences, depression, anxiety, and more.

Adults:

We address a variety of concerns related to adults’ cognitive function. Acorn to Oak offers baseline testing of intelligence, attention, memory, executive functioning, and more.

Athletes:

Acorn to Oak offers assessments of cognitive processes that may be impacted by sports-related head injuries.

Brain Injury and Health-related Events:

We offer comprehensive neuropsychological assessments to identify the mental impact of an accident or health-related event, such as a stroke.

To us, it’s not enough to interview patients and discuss symptoms to make a limited treatment recommendation. Acorn to Oak’s assessments take a deeper dive into the core issues to more accurately pinpoint the real challenges that are holding a person back.

We’ll start with a free consultation to determine whether we’re the right fit. We see clients promptly and provide their test results in a timely fashion. We know that our clients and their families are waiting for answers, and we’re committed to getting accurate, meaningful, and comprehensive solutions back in a timely manner. Following the results of our assessment, we provide customized training to address the underdeveloped skills we have identified. Neuropsychologist

Dr. Naramor specializes in the diagnosis of developmental, learning, behavioral, and memory challenges. She has helped adults, children, and families identify and address underlying challenges for more than 30 years. As a former teacher, she is uniquely equipped to understand the impact of learning disorders and behavior in the classroom.
Dr. Naramor spent many years as an adjunct professor at Southern Methodist University and Azuza Pacific University teaching aspiring therapists lifespan development and how to effectively administer, score, and interpret testing to make accurate diagnoses. She is an active public speaker and has been in private practice since 2006.

Kenne Sparks

Skills Trainer

Kenne was raised in Texas and has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Texas A&M University. He has over 10 years experience as a secondary reading teacher and private tutor, and 15 years experience as a cognitive trainer. His work includes helping those with learning and cognitive disabilities, high functioning autism, and dyslexia/dysgraphia. His passion is helping struggling readers become avid, fluent readers. He also uses cognitive training to help improve memory, processing speed and self-regulation. In his free time, he enjoys acting, comedy and the visual arts, as well as cooking!

Leesa joins Acorn to Oak with 15 years experience in education. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Technology. In addition to her work as a Skills Trainer, Leesa is also working toward a Master’s degree in counseling. Leesa enjoys hiking, gardening and bargain shopping! She and her husband, Wes, are host parents to international students and have had the privilege of hosting 8 students from 7 different countries so far! Leesa loves learning and hopes to inspire the same love in others.

Mike Moore

Mike is an experienced educator with over 18 years in teaching and learning at both elementary and secondary levels. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication and a Masters in Education. Mike is passionate about supporting students in developing their reading, writing, and speaking skills. In addition, he enjoys coaching social and relational skills as well as interpersonal communication. His hobbies include hiking, playing chess, and singing karaoke.

Amy has lived in the Metroplex since 2002 and received a BA in English from the University of North Texas. She spent 10 years working as a teacher in Irving and Garland and is excited to join the Acorn to Oak team. She and her husband have 3 kids, ages 17, 7, and 5. She enjoys serving at their church, reading, cooking, and playing board games in her spare time.

Matthew has a B.S. in business from Pepperdine University and is currently working on his Masters in Psychology from Grand Canyon University with plans to earn his Doctorate in Psychology. In his spare time he enjoys playing guitar, grilling, and flipping houses.
